Vigorous plants producing tasty leaves in autumn/winter. The cut-and-come-again leaves have a delicious sweet flavour picked fresh, and can be used as baby leaves or left to mature. Harvest April-September, Yr 2 April-June.
Sow thinly into finely raked, warm, moist soil at a depth of 13mm in rows about 30cm apart. Germination time 7-14 days. Thin seedlings to 5-10cm between plants. Water in dry weather. Also successful as an over- wintering crop. Allow seedlings to stand over winter, thinning early spring to 5-10cm between plants. Afford some cloche protection if weather is severe.
