Annual with larger leaves than Bush Basil. A widely used herb, especially in cooked tomato dishes.
Sow in a propagtor on a windowsill or thinly in pots or trays in a greenhouse approx 10-15 celsius using a good quality compost. Cover seeds with 6mm sieved compost. Grow on, planting out when forst risk has passed 23cm apart. Germination takes 14-21 days, Can also be sown thinly directly outside a t a depth of about 6mm. Grows best in well drained soil in a sunny position. Do not allow plants to flower if leaves used for cooking.
