Choose a sunny position and sow thinly into a finely raked, warm, moist soil or in pots in bands approx 9cm wide, covering the seed lightly and firming the soil gently. Thin resulting seedlings if required to around 3cm apart. Grow on keeping the soil moist, It should be possible take the first clipping with scissors 21-28 days from sowing. Harvest the seedlings 4cm above the soil to allow the young plants to produce new leaf growth. it should be possible to repeat this process 2-3 times but we recommend a fortnightly sowing to ensure mini salad production throughout the summer. It is important for the best taste to harvest leaves at a young age.
