Flat-topped roots, white with purple crown. Quick maturing, useful in frames and under cloches. Tender when young, with an excellent mild, sweet flavour. Popular in Northern areas.
Sow thinly direct into finelt raked, warm, moist soil at a depth of 13mm in rows about 30cm apart. Germination takes 6-10 days. Use thinnings as tasty turnip tops in a mixed salad. Turnips grow best in well cultivated soil containing some lime. Water well during periods of dry weather. Sow small batche ssuccessionally every fortnight so tender pure whire roots can be pulled regularly.
